Other features are a hook keeper, Duplon grip, 9 guides as well as a Shimano reel seat. Sold at about £80.00.

Regarding the Purist Pikey Poker Rod

This is a far more substantial rod for those seeking predators with bigger lures. Nicely suited to deeper, larger size waters, the Pikey Poker is created for heavy use. Improve Your Coarse Fishing, the UK’s leading coarse magazine has awarded the new Baitrunner ST/DL 2500 & 4000’s their prestigious Product of the Month award.

Dave Woodmansey, Improves Deputy Editor commented ‘These reels are absolutely cock-on for commercial carp work where ‘lumps’ regularly rip rods off rests, or for specialist barbel, chub, tench, and bream fishing, or lightweight roving.’

These mini marvels are available in a basic ST range, or higher specification DL option. Prices on the ST models start from £54.99 – £74.99 for the DL.

The revolutionary front drag/small size technology seen on the hot new Baitrunner DL duo is also available to a large extent – but at a lesser price – on the new 2500 and 4000 Baitrunner ST reels. XT-7 spools have respective capacities of 160 and 260m of 0.25mm line. Varispeed, Super Stopper ll plus XT-7 body and rotor are among the many advanced design features included in their precision construction specifications. Why accept imitations now that Shimano – the true and original Baitrunner makers – offer such quality at such an attractive price.

Shimano Tiagra A Featured Highlights

A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings)
Our specially treated stainless steel ball bearings are at least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings.

Forged Aluminum Spool
These spools are made from cold forged aluminum then machined to provide an extremely dense, solid construction that can withstand the heavy drag pressures the reels can apply.

Chrome Plated Sideplate Screws
The sideplate screws are chrome plated to prevent corrosion.

2-Speed Gearing
Uses 2 sets of gears that are always engaged for quick, easy gear ratio changes even under load.

Ratcheting Drag Lever
eliminates the chance of the drag lever backing off due to boat vibration and allows for more precise adjustment.

Twin Disk Drag System
uses two drag disks and a floating drag plate to effectively double the drag surface which provides a wide range of settings and increased durability (TI16 & TI130A only).

Clicker
The clicker increases the tension on freespool and activates a clicking alarm when a fish bites.

Septon
The handle grip material, Septon, is soft to the touch and does not get slippery when wet (not available on TI12 & TI16).

Permalube
This lubrication improves freespool while maintaining protection and durability of moving parts.

Metal Series
With the Metal Series, metal frames keep moving parts in precise alignment for increased efficiency and durability.

Machined Aluminum Frame
These frames are machined from solid aluminum pipestock, which makes them incredibly rigid and strong for ultra tight tolerances.

Offset Ergonomic Power Grip
The power grip is offset on multiple axes to allow natural hand, arm and wrist angles to improve comfort and power (not available on (TI12 & TI16).

Ergonomic Power Handle
Comfortable, non-slip grip provides maximum comfort and torque (TI12 & TI16).

By Chris L.
This is the best spinning reel, priced below $200, I have ever used. This is the smoothest, most silent, most durable and easy to maintain reel I have ever used and I would recommend it to anyone.

The Bottom Line – This is a mid-price range reel that really works as well its higher priced cousins.
